Oliver Glasner confirmed in earlier this month that he will be stepping down as Crystal Palace manager at the end of the season when his contract expires after just over two seasons at the club, turning down a new deal from the club.

The Austrian has written his name into the history books at Selhurst Park, becoming the first Palace manager to ever lift a piece of major silverware following the victorious FA Cup final win over Manchester City last season, which was followed by victory in the Community Shield at the start of this season.

The 51-year-old also took the south London club to their first ever European campaign following their FA Cup win, reaching the Conference League, but it was thought the Austrian was unimpressed with the club’s summer transfer business despite the need for a much deeper squad to deal with the European schedule.

Crystal Palace spent £48m on five players, and sold key player Eberechi Eze to Arsenal for £60m, with Glasner being vocal to the press he’d have liked more and better business to prepare the squad for the increased workload, perhaps a driving force in his decision not to extend his deal in south London.

Naturally, rumours will already be circulating around the identity of Glasner’s successor, and talkSPORT BET are pricing Tottenham boss Thomas Frank as the current favourite.

The Danish manager is currently under huge amounts of pressure for his job in north London, with the side currently on a run of just one win in nine domestic matches, winless in their last six and currently 14th in the Premier League table.

The 52-year-old had previously enjoyed success in the capital with Brentford, securing the club’s promotion to the top flight for the first time since 1947, and overseeing the west London club to become and established Premier League side before his exit last summer after nearly seven years in charge of the club.

With his time at Tottenham not having gone to plan so far, it’s expected that Frank will be without a job in the summer when Palace will be on the hunt for a new boss of their own.

Other names linked with the Selhurst Park hotseat are the ex-Benfica manager, Roger Schmidt, and the former England boss Gareth Southgate, both priced as joint-second favourites at 6/1.

Southgate has been out of a job since stepping down as the Three Lions manager following defeat in the Euro 2024 final, and his considerable history with Crystal Palace, coming through the club’s academy and being the first team captain at the age of 23, representing the club on 191 occasions.

The south London club could be the perfect way back into football management for the 55-year-old, back where it all began after admitting following his England departure of his doubts about returning to the sport in a coaching role.

Schmidt has enjoyed coaching spells around the world, most notably with the likes of Benfica, PSV and Bayer Leverkusen, and winning silverware in Austria, China, the Netherlands and Portugal.

The 58-year-old German manager has been out of a job since his departure from the Lisbon club in August 2024, after a record breaking two-year spell which saw him win a first league title in four years for the club and reach the quarter finals of the Champions League.

Steve Cooper and Jose Bordalas as joint fourth 8/1 favourites at the time of writing.

The former has enjoyed success in England before, taking Swansea to a Championship play-off final in 2021 before securing promotion to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest the following season despite taking over the side when they were rock bottom.

The Welshman was sacked from the City Ground in December 2023, and has since had a spell as Leicester manager last season before being sacked again, arguably unfairly, then taking up his current role in September as manager Brondby, currently third in the Danish Superliga.

Bordalas is currently in his second spell managing Getafe in La Liga, taking over in April 2023 after a spending the best part of five years there previously from 2016, securing promotion to the top flight in his first season and backing it up with three consecutive top eight finishes, even reaching Europa League knockout stages.

The Spaniard then left in the summer of 2021 to join Valenica, taking them to the final of the Copa del Rey before being released from his contract at the end of the season following the sacking of the club’s chairman by the owner, and returned to Getafe the following year.

The 61-year-old’s style of play has been frequently criticised for being too defensive and aggressive, with the philosophy colloquially known as Haramball in Spain.
