Oliver Glasner confirmed last month that he will be stepping down as Crystal Palace manager at the end of the season when his contract expires after just over two seasons at the club, turning down a new deal from the club.
The Austrian has written his name into the history books at Selhurst Park, becoming the first Palace manager to ever lift a piece of major silverware following the victorious FA Cup final win over Manchester City last season, which was followed by victory in the Community Shield at the start of this season.
The 51-year-old also took the south London club to their first ever European campaign following their FA Cup win, reaching the Conference League, but it was thought the Austrian was unimpressed with the club’s summer transfer business despite the need for a much deeper squad to deal with the European schedule.
Crystal Palace spent £48m on five players, and sold key player Eberechi Eze to Arsenal for £60m, with Glasner being vocal to the press he’d have liked more and better business to prepare the squad for the increased workload, perhaps a driving force in his decision not to extend his deal in south London.
The Eagles have failed to live up to the heights of last season, currently sat 13th in the Premier League table, out of both domestic cup competitions after falling on the wrong side of the biggest FA Cup upset in history with defeat at sixth-tier Macclesfield, and making hard work of their inaugural European campaign.

Naturally, rumours have already started circulating around the identity of Glasner’s successor, and talkSPORT BET are pricing Hungarian side Ferencvaros boss Robbie Keane as the current favourite.
The Irish boss is currently gaining plaudits managing in Hungary, moving to Budapest to in January last year, winning the league at the first time of asking, having also won a league title managing in Israel, and taking them now into Europa League knockout stages.
The former Tottenham, Liverpool and Inter Milan striker has never taken charge of a team in England before but has had short spells as assistant manger at Middlesbrough and Leeds.
Recently sacked Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is also in the running for a move across the capital to Selhurst Park, now priced as second favourite having previously been the joint front-runner.
The Danish manager was relieved of his duties in north London earlier in the month with the side sat just two places above the relegation zone.
The 52-year-old had previously enjoyed success in the capital with Brentford, securing the club’s promotion to the top flight for the first time since 1947, and overseeing the west London club to become and established Premier League side before his exit last summer after nearly seven years in charge of the club.
Another recently sacked manager is also in the running for the hot seat at Selhurst Park, with Sean Dyche currently priced as third favourite at 9/2.
The 54-year-old was recently sacked as Nottingham Forest manager after just three-and-a-half months in charge, having also enjoyed Premier League spells at Everton and Burnley in recent seasons.
Other names linked with the Selhurst Park hotseat are former England boss Gareth Southgate – also priced as joint favourite at 10/1.
Southgate has been out of a job since stepping down as the Three Lions manager following defeat in the Euro 2024 final, and his considerable history with Crystal Palace, coming through the club’s academy and being the first team captain at the age of 23, representing the club on 191 occasions.
The south London club could be the perfect way back into football management for the 55-year-old, back where it all began after admitting following his England departure of his doubts about returning to the sport in a coaching role.
Other names linked with taking over at Crystal Palace in the summer are Roger Schmidt, who has been out of a managerial role since leaving Benfica in August, current Getafe manager Jose Bordalas, current Palace assistant manager Paddy McCarthy, and former Tottenham and Nottingham Forest boss Ange Postecoglou.
