Newcastle’s stance on Nick Woltemade exit amid claims he wants transfer

Newcastle would be willing to sell Nick Woltemade at the right price, talkSPORT understands.

Woltemade has been reported to be unhappy at the Magpies, despite only signing for the club six months ago.

The German striker arrived in the Premier League as the Toon’s replacement for Alexander Isak, who joined Liverpool.

It cost a whopping £69million to bring him to St. James’ Park in August from Bundesliga side Stuttgart.

That remains a club-record signing for Newcastle, but it now seems like Woltemade could be on his way out.

Since signing for Eddie Howe‘s side, he’s netted seven times in 23 appearances in the Premier League.

And they all came before the new year, with the 24-year-old going seven league games in 2026 without scoring.

He did score in the FA Cup last weekend however, helping Newcastle come out on top in a controversy-filled tie against Aston Villa.

After starting the season as a regular starter, Yoane Wissa‘s return to fitness and his lack of form have led to fewer minutes.

Woltemade scored in all of his first three home Premier League games for the Magpies, equalling club legends by doing so.

He also scored five goals in his first six starts for the club, but things have appeared to be going wrong in more recent weeks.

The forward hasn’t started any of his last four appearances in the Premier League for Howe’s men.

Return to Germany?

Reports are also suggesting that Woltemade could be heading for a return to his home nation.

Bayern Munich competed with Newcastle for his signature last summer, just missing out on the frontman in the end.

Despite holding talks, they had their deal hijacked by the Magpies and he chose a switch to the Premier League.

And Bayern chief Uli Hoeness was left raging at missing out on his target due to his inflated price tag proving too high.

So, could the German giants make another approach?

Newcastle would be willing to sell if the price is right, but what that price is may end up being too much for Hoeness again.
