Newcastle host Manchester City in the FA Cup fifth round at St. James’ Park as both clubs eye a place in the quarter finals.

After their 90th minute winner against Manchester United on Wednesday, Newcastle will be bouncing into their FA Cup clash with Man City.

But they’ll have to beware of a wounded animal following City’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest saw them lose ground in the Premier League title race.

Newcastle vs Man City predictions

Eddie Howe will hope St. James’ Park mood music is still rocking following the last-gasp victory over Man United.

It was a vital victory for the Toon, who had only one league victory since their Carabao Cup exit to City before Wednesday night’s win.

Howe was taking some stick for his side’s deficiencies with forwards Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa not firing on all cylinders.

That wretched form included a 5-1 aggregate mauling in the Carabao Cup semi final. But the return of midfielder Joelinton and Sven Botman alongside the form of Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon could give a better platform to perform.

The two clubs have played each other five times in cup competitions since 2020. City winning four of those meetings means history is on their side.

Tijani Reijnders and Omar Marmoush scored the goals the last time these two sides met and both could well get starts if Pep Guardiola decides to shuffle the pack.

Although after dropping two points to Forest, Guardiola won’t want to rotate too much and return to winning ways.

He’ll hope victory at St. James’ Park will give them the impetus to go all the way in the Premier League and Champions League.

Newcastle vs Man City betting tips

Antoine Semenyo has started life at Manchester City on fire in front of goal.

After bagging 10 goals for Bournemouth in the first half of season, the forward has scored six goals in 11 appearances since joining in January.

The Ghanaian has broken the deadlock for City in the last three league games in a row. He also scored the opener in the League Cup first-leg at St. James’ Park.

To score first in this one is 6/1 with Sky Bet or you could hedge your bets with 32/25 anytime bet with SBK.

Nick Woltemade has been in and out of Howe’s starting 11 in recent weeks, trying to find a home in the Newcastle side.

His best work was done as a false nine or number 10 type role at Stuttgart, where he scored 12 goals for Stuttgart in 2024/25.

Whether he starts or comes off the bench, Woltemade could give City a tough test and be involved in some key duels to help his team gain territory further up the pitch.
