Mountain Dew Baja Blast baseball glove is the ultimate ‘Shut up and take my money’ item
Okay dear friends we have some questions for you.
Are you a middle infielder?
Do you have a love for all things Mountain Dew Baja Blast?
Do you have $400 lying around?
If your answer to all three of these questions is yes, then we have the new glove for you. As part of the new collaboration between Rawlings and Mountain Dew this baseball season, the iconic equipment manufacturer and official glove of Major League Baseball is releasing a limited-edition “Heart of the Hide Baja Blast” infielder’s glove. The glove is 11.5 inches — ideal for infielders, including middle infielders — and features the Baja Blast coloring:
The glove also features the inscription 420’ (more on that in a moment), as well as “Have a Baja Blast” by the thumb.
In a press release Michael Thompson, the Chief Marketing Officer at Rawlings, called the partnership a “natural fit” between Rawlings and Mountain Dew.
“Rawlings has been part of baseball’s biggest moments for over a century, and as two proud partners of Major League Baseball this season, teaming up with Mountain Dew Baja Blast to create something special for fans felt like a natural fit,” said Thompson. “This glove brings together our premium craftsmanship and the bold energy of Baja Blast to celebrate one of baseball’s most exciting seasons yet.”
The glove is just one component of the partnership between MLB, Rawlings, and Mountain Dew. In addition to the limited-edition glove, anytime a home run travels more than 420 feet, it unlocks a free Mountain Dew Baja Blast for fans nationwide.
Yes, you read that number correctly.
“Baseball is built on big moments – big hits, big catches and big swings – and Mountain Dew Baja Blast is bringing the big sips to match,” said Michael Smith, VP of Marketing for Mountain Dew, PepsiCo Beverages U.S. “From rewarding 420-foot home runs with ‘Get a Baja for a Blast’ to teaming up with Rawlings on a limited-edition glove, we’re giving fans more ways to celebrate the biggest home runs throughout the season.”
But honestly, this glove is the big draw. I fully expect to see this on tournament fields all summer long.
