Mike Macdonald loses it at Seahawks star for trying to sack Sam Darnold: ‘Get him out’
HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ is giving Seattle Seahawks fans a real insight into how Mike Macdonald runs proceedings.
Episode one taught fans to expect the unexpected, starting with fullback Brady Russell getting peed on.
It even featured McDonald’s using Phil Jackson’s legendary Chicago Bulls teams as a metaphor for building a winning culture.
Episode two, released on Tuesday night, showed Macdonald getting very heated at linebacker Derick Hall for ball rushing Sam Darnold.
A clip posted by the official NFL X account shows Macdonald approaching Hall with a question.
“Derick, Derick, Derick, what are you doing? Why are you bull rushing right now near the quarterback?” Macdonald said.

“I’m not, I tried to hump. I can’t see behind me,” Hall replied.
“You can’t be trying to hump right now, this isn’t the time for it,” the head coach added.
The preview then transitions into a clip of scrimmage, with Hall once again attempting to take down Darnold.
“Damnit, Derick,” Macdonald can be heard saying off before shouting, “Hey! stay away from the quarterback.”
“How when I already cleared the pass? What do you want me to do?” Hall replied.
“Get him out, get him out, get him out,” Macdonald said, upon hearing this, Hall added: “Damn, oh my gosh! What the f***.”
“Hey, you can complain all you want, you can complain all the f*** you want, you’re too close, that’s twice,” Macdonald shouted to Hall.
“That’s not smart, you can f*** all you want, but it turns out I’m running the f****** practice.”
It’s clear to see from this altercation that Darnold is being treated like gold dust at camp.
Fresh off the first Super Bowl victory of his career, Darnold’s career came full circle with the dominant win over the New England Patriots.
Hailed as the ‘NFL’s most boring quarterback, he was selected third overall in the 2018 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.
They would give up on Darnold after just three seasons. He then joined the Carolina Panthers, appearing in 18 games over two years.
Darnold then spent a year as Brock Purdy’s back-up in San Francisco, time in which he credited for his career turnaround.
After one year in the Bay, he found himself as the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, where he won 14 games throwing for 4,319 yards and 35 touchdowns.
That wasn’t enough to convince the Vikings hierarchy that he should be their starting QB, choosing the inexperienced J.J. McCarthy instead who has now been benched in favor of Kyler Murray.
Now with one Vince Lombardi under his belt, Macdonald is making sure he is fighting fit in order for them to go back-to-back, despite claims they won’t be able too.
