- Benjamin Sesko to score any time
There is great excitement building in the stands at Old Trafford as United have moved into the top four of the table and a huge weight has come off the shoulders of Benjamin Sesko after his winning goal against Fulham.
The big-money signing has made a slow start to life in Manchester, but his brilliant stoppage-time finish last Sunday could open the floodgates. - Manchester United to win
It is too early to suggest that the glory days are returning to Old Trafford, but it is beyond question that there has been a magical happiness and freedom about the United squad since Carrick has taken over.
Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro have formed a strong alliance in the middle of the pitch and United can be fancied to secure a fourth consecutive victory. - Both teams to score
Despite winning their last three games, United have conceded four goals, and they let Fulham get two last Sunday.
Tottenham have been involved in plenty of high-scoring games this season and they have scored twice in each of their last three away fixtures. A ding-dong encounter could be on the cards.
Ruben Amorim was shown the door at Old Trafford after complaining about a lack of total control, saying he wanted to be the manager and not just a coach, and Manchester United’s board will be relieved that they acted swiftly to send the 41-year-old Portuguese packing.
Since Amorim left, United’s players have staged an incredible revival, which suggests Amorim had lost the dressing room. Carrick has taken over as interim manager until the end of the season and there seems every chance he will get the job on a permanent basis given the upturn in results.
Carrick presided over a 2-0 derby victory over Manchester City in his first game in charge, then followed up with a 3-2 triumph at Arsenal and the same scoreline at home to Fulham.
Benjamin Sesko came off the substitutes’ bench to score a stoppage-time winner against Fulham and the Slovenian giant may be rewarded with a starting spot against Tottenham.
Bryan Mbeumo may start on the right flank, with Sesko through the middle. Tottenham could have as many as 13 first-team players missing for this match for various reasons, so United can take advantage, with Sesko best placed to do so.
