Hojlund joined the Italian side on a season-long loan on deadline day last summer.

As part of his move, Napoli would sign him permanently if they secured a top four finish this term.

Sunday’s 3-0 win at Pisa clinched Champions League qualification for Antonio Conte’s side.

Hojlund completed the scoring in stoppage time after Scott McTominay and Amir Rrahmani had found the net.

As a result, his permanent United exit was finalised whilst the Red Devils were in action.

Having kicked off at 11am BST, the match ended during United’s 3-2 home win over Nottingham Forest.

Napoli now sit five points clear of fifth place Como with one match to play.

They will end their campaign at home to Udinese on Sunday, May 24.

Hojlund on Napoli move

Hojlund reflected on his transfer following the final whistle against Pisa.

The Danish striker explained: “I’m now officially a Napoli player and I’m saying goodbye to Manchester United.

“That feels weird, because for the past year I already feel like a Napoli player.

“The way you fans supported me, made me feel like home and let me find my confidence again is something I’m so grateful for.

“To say goodbye to Manchester United is something that kind of feels emotional too.

“My childhood dream came true by playing at Old Trafford in a red jersey.

“So the goal today symbolises a new confident start, in which I will give everything for the time ahead to Napoli, and a thank you to all the fans, players and staff of Manchester United who made the dream I had as a kid come true.

“It’s time for new dreams, so let’s chase them.”

Hojlund has scored 15 goals in 43 appearances for Napoli this season, including 11 goals in his 32 Serie A outings.

The 23-year-old is just three goals short of his league tally for United, having scored 14 times in 62 Premier League appearances between 2023 and 2025.
