Liverpool manager Arne Slot turns into model for European club to help launch new kit

Arne Slot switched from manager to model this week when helping out Dutch outfit PEC Zwolle with their 115th anniversary kit launch.

The Liverpool boss is no stranger to the club having started and finished his career with them.

Slot has always kept the Eredivisie side close to his heart and even found the time to take a brief break from his Anfield duties to celebrate a huge milestone.

To celebrate their 115th anniversary, PEC Zwolle have released a trendy new limited edition kit to be worn for the remainder of the season.

The white Adidas shirt has a green trim and the green signature stripes across the shoulders.

There is also a gold patch displaying the words: “115 YEARS PEC ZWOLLE”

The kit was officially unveiled on January 22 and is expected to be popular among fans thanks in part to the club’s savvy marketing strategy.

Slot was no doubt at the centre of it but he wasn’t the only Premier League link involved in the release.

Manchester City star Tijjani Reijnders, who came through the youth ranks at PEC Zwolle, also dashed back to his homeland to get involved in the launch.

As did ex-Manchester United defender Jaap Stam who began his senior career at the club before briefly taking over as caretaker manager in 2009.

The lengths that all three stars have gone to in supporting their formative club shows the long-standing affection for the place where it all began for them.

The Liverpool boss registered a combined 208 appearances for the club over two spells, scoring 27 goals.

The former midfielder didn’t command the limelight during his playing days but was a key ingredient in the club’s return to the top flight in 2002.

Spells at NAC Breda and Sparta Rotterdam followed before Slot returned to Zwolle and once again helped them achieve promotion back to the top flight.

That was his final season before launching his managerial career that saw him guide Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in 2023.

And that success continued into last season when he cantered to the Premier League title with Liverpool in his first season in English football.

And while things haven’t been as straightforward for the Reds this time around, Slot’s side remain in contention in the FA Cup and Champions League.
