Linus Ullmark shouts out Senators fan’s inspirational playoff sign
The Ottawa Senators suffered a devastating sweep at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, the blame for the Senators’ struggles can’t be placed on Linus Ullmark, who kept his team in it for four games with a ton of highlight reel saves. It has been a rough season for Ullmark off the ice, and his play, coupled with the support of the fans, helped him get back on track, according to Claire Hanna via X, formerly Twitter.
“Linus Ullmark shares a story about a sign he saw a fan holding that said ‘the only noise that matters is the cheers from the fans,'”Hanna reported.
“Yes, it is the only thing that matters….Thank you for making it. That was very special,” Ullmark stated.
The sweep won’t sit well with the Senators or their fans, but one silver lining is that they now know how much Ullmark can elevate his game in the postseason. If this run of play from him gets him to fall back in love with the game and get more comfortable over the remaining three years of his contract, it’ll be a success. Ullmark shared that the playoffs changed his mindset, according to Bruce Garrioch via X.
Ullmark says, “The playoffs were the first time I felt like myself again.” It didn’t feel like “a chore.”
