‘Like a kids game’ – Rob Edwards rages at Wolves players as ‘useless’ team tipped to make embarrassing Premier League history
Rob Edwards pulled no punches when assessing Wolves’ performance against Manchester United as their nightmare season continued.
Things went from bad to worse for the Premier League‘s bottom club on Monday night, as they slumped to a demoralising 4-1 defeat to the Red Devils at Molineux.

Wolves’ woes continue
Monday proved another miserable evening for the hosts, who were given a glimmer of hope when Jean-Ricner Bellegarde equalised on the stroke of half time after Bruno Fernandes‘ opener.
But Bryan Mbeumo restored United’s lead after the interval, before Mason Mount and a penalty from Fernandes secured the three points.
This saw Wolves’ woes continue, who remain winless in 15 games this season and they now sit 13 points off safety at the foot of the table with two points on the board.
Worse still, defeat to United was their eighth straight league loss, equalling the worst-ever run in the club’s history set in 1981/82.
It guarantees that they will stay bottom of the Premier League over Christmas, while a total of 226 days have now passed since Wolves last won a top-flight game, which came against the already-relegated Leicester in April.
In the time since, they have sacked Vitor Pereira as head coach – replacing him with Rob Edwards in November.
Edwards rages at his players
Since his arrival from Middlesbrough, the former Wales international has been unable to turn the tide, losing all four of his games in charge, and he delivered a scathing verdict after his side’s latest display.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the United match: “Overall quality there was a difference, no doubt about it. But we gifted the first three goals.
“We got back into the game… but to start the second half the way we did – quite baffling. We gifted the three goals.
“Honestly, it was like watching maybe a kids game, elements of the first three goals we gave away. If you do that at this level, you’re not going to win.”

Adding to the ill feeling, defeat to United came amid growing discontent among Wolves’ supporters.
With fans growing increasingly unhappy with owners Fosun, a noticeable number stayed outside Molineux for the first 15 minutes of their Monday night clash in protest.
Things didn’t get much better during the match, with members of the home crowd being spotted turning their backs to the action.
And Edwards admitted he understood the fans’ frustrations: “They’ve not seen their team win for ages. I get their anger, if I was a supporter I’d be angry as well.
“We want to see our team competing and at the moment we’re not doing that.”
‘Who are they going to beat?’
Edwards hasn’t been the only person to deliver a bleak verdict on Wolves in recent days, with talkSP0RT’s Adrian Durham admitting they could be set for an unwanted top-flight first.

Speaking ahead of the United defeat, Durham tipped the Midlands outfit to become the first team to go an entire Premier League season without winning a single game.
Having already suffered a 3-2 defeat to closest rivals Burnley, Durham offered a bleak verdict, saying: “Listen, Wolves are absolutely useless.
“Two points from 14 games. I mean, I reckon they could go the whole season without winning a game.
“That would be remarkable. They’ve already lost home to Burnley, so who are they going to beat?”
It’s fair to say Wolves’ most recent outing will have done little to convince Durham otherwise, with the bottom table strugglers now also staring at Derby’s lowest-ever points tally.
The Rams managed just 11 points when they were relegated in the 2007/08 campaign, although they managed to win once in the league that season, but there is a very real possibility that Edwards side could record a new low if they fail to turn their form around.
