Lee Westwood won monster £48k Cheltenham bet just a year after scooping another stunning payout
If you’re planning to place more bets during Cheltenham Festival this week, Lee Westwood may be your best tipster.
The English golf legend knows exactly how it feels to win big at one of the best events on the sporting calendar.

Every punter will have been hoping to see their selections land throughout the week, with some huge winnings on offer.
However, it’s unlikely that they’ll have won as much as Westwood scooped seven years ago at the 2019 festival.
On the Wednesday of Cheltenham that year, he had placed a Super Heinz, with a selection for each race of the day.
A Super Heinz is a bet that involves seven selections and has a total of 120 individual bets within it, including 21 doubles, 35 trebles, 35 four-fold accumulators, 21 five-fold accumulators, seven six-fold accumulators and one seven-fold accumulator.
And from a £240 stake, Westwood pocketed a whopping £48,200.
His first pick, City Island, won the Novices’ Hurdle, before Topofthegame won for him in the Novices’ Chase after that.
In the third race of the day, Killultagh Vic failed to win, but the bet lived on due to the nature of the Super Heinz.
Westwood would then be celebrating as he saw Altior and Tiger Roll win in the next two races to set him up for huge winnings.
And those winnings grew further and further, as Band of Outlaws won the second last race, before Envoi Allen secured a monster payout for the now 52-year-old LIV Golf star.
Six wins from seven meant he was paid out over £48,000.

Westwood would post his winning betslip on social media, with the caption reading: “Boom, I love Betfair.”
His caption was accompanied by multiple love heart eye emojis.
But even before the huge win in 2019, he was used to the feeling of cashing in an incredible amount of money at Cheltenham.
Deja vu
A year earlier, in 2018, Westwood managed to win another huge bet on the festival, in even rarer fashion.
He backed every single winning horse on the opening day.
That feat saw him claim just under £22,000 from a £128 bet.

Westwood won Betfred’s totejackpot by successfully predicting the first six race winners at Cheltenham.
And he then backed the seventh race winner too, on what was a perfect day for the English golfing icon.
Following that with his win of £48,000 in 2019 meant that he’d claimed a stunning £70,000 in just two years.
Westwood is an avid horse racing fan and owner, owning many horses over the last 20 years and claiming further winnings.
Some of the horses he has owned or still owns include Eligible, Hoof It, Stay Humble, Yorkhill, Bellshill and Augusta Kate.
He’ll certainly be hoping for some more success at Cheltenham this week, but surely he can’t better these two years, can he?
