Lakers’ Luka Doncic makes ‘scared’ confession about ‘lucky’ injury

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic endured an injury scare during the team’s 129-99 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night. Doncic was able to return to the game after an awkward step on Cleveland’s raised court following a three-point shot that led to the scare. “I kind of got scared. It wasn’t a great feeling, and, looking back at the video, I think I got a little bit lucky,” Doncic said of the incident following the game, via Dan Woike of The Athletic.

It was a frightening moment to say the least. Barring a setback, it appears Doncic will be alright. The Lakers will obviously continue to closely monitor the situation.

As mentioned, the Lakers were defeated. Although Doncic exited the game before later returning, he still led Los Angeles with 29 points. For the Cavs, Donovan Mitchell led the way with 25 points.

There was plenty of attention on LeBron James in what may have been his final game in Cleveland. James, a Cavs legend, received a warm welcome from the hometown fans.

In the end, though, the Cavs emerged victorious in convincing fashion.

The Lakers are currently in the middle of a long road trip. Their next game is scheduled for Thursday in Washington against the Wizards. LA will then travel to New York to play the Knicks on Sunday and the Nets on Tuesday. The team will then return home for eight consecutive games in Los Angeles — with the NBA All-Star break in between.

As for Doncic, updates will continue to be provided on his injury status.
