Jamahl Mosley unleashes 3 things that handed Pistons Game 5 win over Magic

The Orlando Magic had a chance to break the hearts of the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night by defeating them in five games on home court. The Pistons had high hopes entering the playoffs as the first seed in the Eastern Conference, but dug themselves a 3-1 hole that will be tough to get out of. However, the Pistons’ win on Wednesday puts them two victories away from finishing the job. Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley outlined what his team needs to do better during his post-game press conference, according to Brandon Green via X, formerly Twitter.

“This game came down to offensive rebound, second-chance points, and free throws,” Mosley explained.

The Magic went 16-30 from the free-throw line in Game 5, which really looms large in a seven-point loss. Detroit also out-rebounded them 49-33, with Orlando only managing to grab eight offensive rebounds. It looked like a team that was playing a little tight with a chance to win the series.

Compare that to Orlando’s Game 4 win, where they shot 74% from the free-throw line and grabbed 16 offensive rebounds. It was right around their league averages on the season, as the Magic finished 12th in the league with a 74.6% free throw efficiency and second in the league with 13.5 offensive rebounds per game.

The good news for the Magic is that the 82-game sample size suggests Wednesday night’s game could be an anomaly they fix on their home court in Game 6. The last thing Orlando wants is to have to make the trip back to Detroit for Game 7. Game 6 goes on Friday, with time to be determined.
