Lakers’ Jarred Vanderbilt questionable for Game 3 vs. Thunder with hand injury

Jarred Vanderbilt got a significant update regarding his injury status ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers’ Game 3 matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals.

Vanderbilt has had an active presence off the bench for the Lakers throughout the regular season and the playoffs. He often shined as a defensive presence on the wing while providing an occasional 3-point shot, helping with the dirty work.

However, he suffered an injury in the series opener against Oklahoma City. He dislocated his right finger as it sidelined for the remainder of Game 1 and all of Game 2. With the injury being a day-to-day one, NBA insider Marc Stein revealed an update on Vanderbilt as he’s coming along in his recovery to return to the court.

What lies ahead for Jarred Vanderbilt, Lakers

It’s a positive update for the Lakers to get about Jarred Vanderbilt. They will need all the defense they can get to slow down the Thunder, who already have a 2-0 series lead in the West Semifinals.

Los Angeles has done well to remain resilient throughout the injuries to their star players. Luka Doncic remains out with his hamstring injury, leaving LeBron James and Austin Reaves as the top two scorers for the team.

They will need significant contributions from the supporting cast. Rui Hachimura and Marcus Smart have been active with their performances but will hope for the likes of Deandre Ayton and Luke Kennard to deliver with big displays for the remainder of the series. It’s tough to keep up with the defending champions in Oklahoma City, but the Lakers have shown that they are capable of making the Thunder in spurts.
