LA Rams vs Chicago Bears betting tips and predictions for NFL playoff clash

The Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears both had exciting fourth-quarter comebacks in the Wildcard Round, with the Rams scoring with 38 seconds remaining to beat the Carolina Panthers 34-31.

The Bears went even further, riding a 25-point fourth quarter to beat their rivals the Green Bay Packers 31-27 after trailing 21-3 at half-time.

The pair will both be hoping for a more straightforward success when they face off in what is expected to be one of the coldest games in NFL history on Sunday.

LA Rams vs Chicago Bears betting tips

  • Under 48.5 points @ 20/23
  • Colston Loveland anytime touchdown scorer @ 2/1
  • Blake Corum over 42.5 rushing yards @ 17/20

Conditions will be brutal

The weather forecast for this game at Soldier Field is one of the most extreme seen in NFL history, with lows of six degrees fahrenheit expected, along with snow and strong winds.

That will make moving the ball very difficult and could slow down two teams who were impressive through the air in their Wildcard Round victories.

The Los Angeles Rams in particular, as a team who play their home games in a dome, may struggle with conditions. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has a 1-9 win record in cold, rainy or snowy weather since joining the Rams and that is a big concern for the road team.

Success through the air has been the name of the game for the MVP candidate but their strength and his connection with Puka Nacua and Davante Adams is likely to be significantly nullified by the icy conditions.

Low-scoring battles are something of a habit at Soldier Field, six of the last seven regular season games went under the total, and this could be another considering the conditions.

Loveland a key target

Colston Loveland has had an extremely impressive rookie season and he is fancied to star once more for the Chicago Bears in this one.

With the weather conditions set to be freezing cold, expect the Bears to run the football plenty of times. That will open up the play-action later in the game, something which suits Loveland down to the ground.

The tight-end has at least 90 yards in his last three games, growing into his first season in the league, and he has also had two receiving touchdowns and a two-point conversion in those three outings.

Expect Caleb Williams to lean heavily on one of his key weapons and he is a tempting price for a touchdown.

Corum seeing plenty of the ball

Los Angeles Rams’ running back Blake Corum has featured more prominently in recent weeks, sharing the load with Kyren Williams and he looks a decent bet to have a strong outing in Chicago.

Corum has had at least 45 rushing yards in six of his last seven games and with the cold conditions expected, the Rams’ running game will be even more important than usual.
