Jurgen Klopp rejected two Premier League titans after leaving Liverpool and could’ve been England manager
Jurgen Klopp rejected the chance to manage Manchester United and Chelsea after leaving Liverpool in 2024, his agent has revealed.
The German departed Anfield after nine magical years on Merseyside as he sought to take a break from management.

However, despite his insistence on stepping away from the game, Liverpool’s rivals looked to bring Klopp in.
Mauricio Pochettino left his role as Chelsea boss that same year and the Blues ultimately brought in Enzo Maresca as the Argentine’s successor.
Erik ten Hag, meanwhile, departed United in October 2024 before he was replaced by Ruben Amorim.
And according to Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, the 58-year-old fielded offers from the Premier League titans, while Kosicke has also claimed that Klopp could have succeeded Gareth Southgate as England head coach following Euro 2024.
At present, Klopp works as global head of soccer for Red Bull and Kosicke has suggested that the German may one day return to management.
Klopptacular
“Maybe at some point he’ll say he needs to smell the locker room again. But at the moment he’s very, very happy in his role,” Kosicke told Transfermarkt, as quoted by The Times.
“Before joining Red Bull, Jurgen could have coached the USA or England. Probably also Germany, if Julian Nagelsmann hadn’t already been there.
“Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, although Jurgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England. These inquiries keep coming.
“He’s extremely happy with what he’s achieved. And it’s still wonderful to go down in history as one of the few coaches who only managed three clubs and were never fired.”

Klopp managed Mainz between 2001 and 2008 before taking over as Borussia Dortmund head coach and then onto Liverpool in 2015.
The former Reds boss departed in 2024, with Arne Slot named his successor at Anfield.
Liverpool losing on the Slot machine
Slot guided the Merseyside outfit to the Premier League title in his debut campaign in England but has come under pressure to follow up last season’s domestic success.
Liverpool are currently sixth in the Premier League following their 1-0 midweek win at Sunderland.
However, they remain 15 points behind league leaders Arsenal with 12 games to play in what’s been a disastrous title defence.

And Slot is under increasing pressure to enjoy success in his second season at the Anfield helm.
The Reds have the FA Cup and Champions League in their sights but even that may not be enough to save the former Feyenoord boss.
Xabi Alonso, who was relieved of his Real Madrid duties last month, is one of the favourites to succeed Slot in the summer should the Dutchman depart.
