It has been an incredible few days for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy and it could yet continue on Monday as they team up with HYGGE in the opener. This good looker finished an encouraging third on debut at Fairyhouse and is entitled to leave that bare form behind now. He seemed to be coming with a run before pecking on landing 2 out and that stumped his momentum. He will improve markedly and is worth keeping on side.
Lynches Knock was sent off a big price on debut at Navan but outran his odds to finish third beaten 3 lengths. He has more to come and could lead home a 1-2 for the stable with Jordan Gainford in the saddle.
Bet on HYGGE to win at 15/8 with Betfred
12.12 Donohue Marquees Maiden Hurdle 2m4f103y
Gordon Elliott won this last year with The Enabler and he should have a great chance again with JALON D’OUDAIRIES. This son of No Risk At All bumped into Sortudo on hurdles debut and with improvement expected should be capable of going one better against these. His overall profile is progressive and he could be another nice prospect.
Forty Coats ran well behind The New Lion and co at the Cheltenham Festival and this looks a good starting point for him on return so he is the danger. Dani Donadoni showed promise at Cork and is another one who should get competitive.
Bet on JALON D’OUDAIRIES to win at 11/4 with bet365
12.47 SIS Supporting Irish Racing Irish EBF Novice Handicap Hurdle 2m4f103y
There was plenty to like about the way FIERCE HANDAY won at Fairyhouse last time. He moved through the race like a nice horse and was impressive the way he asserted late on under Mark Walsh. The form has already been franked as the fifth Krabat ran at Limerick on Saturday and won well. He has more to come and should still be well handicapped.
Ma Jacks Hill represents the Elliott and Kennedy connection and despite running poorly at Navan should be able to bounce back and give the selection something to think about. Walks In June was also disappointing last time but again if rediscovering form could get competitive.
Bet on FIERCE HANDAY to win at 7/4 with bet365
1.22 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Kerrymount Mares Hurdle (Grade 3) 2m4f103y
I wasn’t completely convinced WODHOOH was going all that well at Ascot last month but she went up through the gears and ultimately won impressively. She has now quite remarkably won 8 of her last 9 and is difficult to oppose again here. Dream On Baby and Sixandahalf should go forward so she should get a good honest pace to run down.
The danger is probably Feet Of A Dancer who impressed winning by 9 lengths at Punchestown and is still fairly unexposed so could have further improvement to come but she will need to step forward to make a serious race of it.
Bet on WODHOOH to win at 2/5 with Paddy Power
1.57 Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase 3m100y
With Elliott going so well I’m confident KISH BANK will go close here. He looked like he needed the run on reappearance at Fairyhouse and despite getting beat at Cork ran well to finish third. He has more to come over fences and should be fairly treated on his hurdles form. Carl Millar is a useful claimer and I’m expecting a big run.
Well Del went for home too soon at Fairyhouse but another run like that would see him involved. The blinkers aren’t guaranteed to work as well as the visor did though. Aurea Fortuna is likely to go off favourite and has won 2 of his last 4 starts so should give a good account of himself again.
Bet on KISH BANK Each Way at 9/2 with BetVictor
2.32 December Hurdle (Grade 1) 2m
I can’t wait to see LOSSIEMOUTH out again. She is an eight-time Grade 1 winner now and was impressive at Punchestown on return last month bolting up by 19 lengths. She is still just a 6yo and I really don’t see any dangers in here as on her best form they are going to struggle to stop her.
Brighterdaysahead obviously won this race 12 months ago and has to be feared but she was poor at Cheltenham and again fluffed her lines at Punchestown so has enough to prove at present. Anzadam ran well in the Fighting Fifth but he didn’t look the most straightforward and might not be up to this level.
Bet on LOSSIEMOUTH to win at 8/13 with Paddy Power
3.05 Neville Hotels Premier Handicap Hurdle (Listed) 2m4f103y
I think it’s worth taking a chance on SA FUREUR here. He ran well to finish fourth on reappearance at Navan and with that under his belt he should step forward and go close. The yard are obviously flying and he remains lightly raced in the main so no surprise if he was good enough.
Zillow is on a four-timer and will go off favourite. He should have more to offer yet judged on his French Flat form so he is respected. Wendrock is a big price and might run better than his odds suggest so could be worth an each way saver.
Bet on SA FUREUR Each Way at 11/4 with Betfred
3.40 Jump Into Hospitality At Dublin Racing Festival Flat Race 2m
I know BUD FOX let backers down somewhat at Cheltenham but he was so impressive at Punchestown and I’m willing to give him another chance. He still has the potential to be a smart prospect and could easily get back on track here against this field.
Keep Him Company looked good winning by 3 lengths at Fairyhouse on debut under Rules and with more to come could be the danger. Mossy Way is another one that caught my eye in an open finale.
Bet on BUD FOX to win at 2/1 with bet365
My top tip for Monday’s racing at Leopardstown’s Christmas Festival
I loved the way FIERCE HANDAY won last time out and I’d be confident he can follow up against these. WODHOOH won despite not travelling great at Ascot and she should go in again and I’ve also combined the pair with LOSSIEMOUTH as I think she is rock solid in the December Hurdle.
Bet a Win Treble on FIERCE HANDAY, WODHOOH and LOSSIEMOUTH at 5/1 with bet365
