Joel Embiid has simple Game 3 request for 76ers fans vs. Knicks

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was repeatedly mocked by the fans of the Boston Celtics at TD Garden in Game 7 of their first-round series on Saturday. But when the smoke cleared, Embiid had the last laugh, as the 76ers ousted the Celtics, 109-100.

Philadelphia completed a spirited comeback from a 3-1 deficit to advance to the second stage against the New York Knicks.

The third-seeded Knicks have homecourt advantage against the seventh-seeded Sixers. That is why Joel Embiid wants to ensure that they will take care of business at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

His impassioned plea to their fans after they eliminated the Celtics, as shown in the video posted by SNY, might do the trick.

“I just have a message for our fans. Last time we played the Knicks, it felt like this was Madison Square Garden East. So we’re going to need their support. Don’t sell your tickets. This is bigger than you. We need you, guys, the atmosphere that we’ve had the last couple of games in Philly, especially the last one, pushing us to Game 7,” said Embiid.

“Knicks fans, they travel, they’re going to buy the tickets.”

The 76ers lost to the Knicks, 4-2, in the first round in 2024.

Embiid played through pain in Game 7 against Boston, finishing with a game-high 34 points on top of 12 rebounds and six assists.

The former MVP will face a tough challenge against the Knicks, who will feature Karl-Anthony Towns, Mitchell Robinson, OG Anunoby, and Mohamed Diawara in the frontcourt. Tyrese Maxey already said it’s going to be a dogfight.

Embiid knows how rabid the fans of New York can be, and he wants Philadelphia to drown them out. Brotherly love can take a backseat for now.
