Jarrell Miller undercard produces KO of the Year as boxer left sprawled out on the canvas

Alan Chaves nailed Miguel Madueno to the canvas in an early Knockout of the Year contender.

The pair met in a lightweight bout on Saturday night at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas.

Argentina’s Chaves entered the contest as an unknown quantity, sporting an unbeaten record compiled solely in his home country.

Madueno of Mexico had, meanwhile, built up a reputation as a tough gatekeeper.

The rugged veteran had previously taken Keyshawn Davis and Steve Claggett the distance and had never been knocked down.

Even the heavy-handed Oscar Duarte was unable to sweep him off his feet when he became the first man to stop Madueno in February 2025.

Chaves had no such issues as he detonated an explosive left hand in the third round that left Madueno sprawled out on the canvas.

Referee Harvey Dokes counted all the way up to 10, but it wasn’t needed.

Madueno lay motionless on the canvas for over a minute before he, thankfully, sat up and began responding to the doctor.

In victory, Chaves improves to 22-0, with 19 knockouts, while Madueno falls to 31-5.

The 25-year-old is already ranked by three of the four major sanctioning bodies, and will have put the division on notice with that heavy knockout.

“A huge puncher, but got the skills with it,” Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn said of Chaves.

“You saw the power, but what you also saw was the way he set the shot up, his footwork, everything that came with it.

“It wasn’t crude, it was really smart.

“This young man is a serious  problem.”

Chaves was snapped up by Matchroom Boxing earlier this month and was immediately thrust into the limelight with a chief support slot on the Jarrell Miller vs Lenier Pero bill.

In the main event, Miller kept his career alive by outworking Pero in a slobber knocker fight.
