Jalen Duren’s series stats vs. Magic have Pistons fans stunned after Game 4
When Cade Cunningham went down with a collapsed lung towards the end of the regular season, the Detroit Pistons relied on Jalen Duren to be the main man for them on offense. Duren turned heads with the way he emerged as an unstoppable force in the paint, averaging 22-10 per night as the number one option for the Pistons during that time.
However, Duren has been a shell of his usual self through the first four games of the 2026 NBA playoffs, and the Pistons have paid dearly for it. The Pistons are now down 3-1 in their first-round matchup against the Orlando Magic despite being the number one seed in the Eastern Conference, and Duren has not been very good whatsoever.
It would surprise every fan who hasn’t been paying close attention to the Pistons that Duren’s Game 4 performance was his best of this year’s playoffs thus far — a 12-point, eight-rebound night. Entering Game 4, Duren was averaging nine points on 42 percent shooting from the field, which simply is not going to cut it being the second option behind Cade Cunningham.
Overall, on the series, he’s now averaging a staggeringly bad 9.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest, which is simply not good enough.
Add in the fact that the Magic appear to be going at Duren on the defensive end, as evidenced by Jamal Cain’s nasty poster jam over the Pistons center in Game 4, and Pistons fans are becoming overly frustrated with what they’re seeing over someone who appears to be playing his way out of a supermax contract with every bad game he puts up in the playoffs.
“Detroit, DO NOT GIVE DUREN THE MAX CONTRACT!” @CabronJames22 wrote.
“Jalen duren wants that super max contract after that jamal cain poster I said super hell no
,” @biggestlawstan added.
“I genuinely loved the growth we saw from Jalen Duren this season, but his play in the playoffs is going to cost him money for his next contract,” @AlexGoldenNBA furthered.
“Whole world has been seeing Jalen Duren lose money on his contract quarter after quarter,” @herechigoes expressed.
