Jalen Brunson drops cold ‘not over’ truth bomb after Knicks’ Game 4 NBA Finals comeback

The New York Knicks pulled off the largest comeback in NBA Finals history Wednesday night, but Jalen Brunson refused to treat it like the finish line. The Knicks captain remained focused after a 107-106 win over the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden.

Brunson helped the Knicks erase a 29-point deficit vs. the Spurs, turning a game that looked lost into one of the wildest Finals finishes in NBA history. The Knicks now lead the series 3-1, putting them one win from their first championship since 1973.

Still, Brunson made clear that the job remains unfinished.

NBA on ESPN posted on X, formerly Twitter, after the Knicks’ dramatic win, sharing Brunson’s brief but telling postgame message about keeping perspective before Game 5.

“There’s nothing to celebrate.”

The statement fit Brunson’s night. He scored 36 points, added seven assists, and played 44 minutes while helping pull the Knicks back into the game when San Antonio appeared in control.

New York trailed 81-52 early in the third quarter after the Spurs hit 14 first-half threes. Then the Knicks changed the game with defense, pressure, and poise.

They held the Spurs to 14 points in the third quarter and 16 in the fourth. That second-half stand gave Brunson a chance to strike late.

Brunson hit a tough bank shot over Victor Wembanyama with 1:22 left, giving New York its first lead. OG Anunoby later delivered the final swing.

Anunoby blocked De’Aaron Fox in the closing seconds, then tipped in Brunson’s missed three with 1.2 seconds remaining. Madison Square Garden erupted, but Brunson remained stone-faced.

That reaction showed why the Knicks trust him. Brunson understands a 3-1 lead means little without one more win. Now, Game 5 on Saturday night is his only focus.

For New York, the comeback already owns a place in Finals history. For Brunson, the only celebration that matters still waits.
