Jake Paul announces blockbuster UK vs USA card including Chantelle Cameron and Mikaela Mayer

Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions has announced an excellent transatlantic card for this summer.

The event, which will pit some of the best women’s boxers from the UK and USA against one another, will take place on August 29 at the bp pulse LIVE arena in Birmingham, live on Sky Sports.

Britain’s WBO super welterweight champion Chantelle Cameron (22-1) will take on the United States’ unified WBA and WBC super welterweight titlist Mikaela Mayer (22-2) in the main event.

Cameron picked up the vacant WBO belt in April with a unanimous decision victory over Michaela Kotaskova after Mayer relinquished the title in January following her win over Mary Spencer.

Now, she will look to reclaim it to keep her dream of becoming the 154lbs undisputed queen alive.

Mayer had previously mentioned to talkSPORT.com in March that a fight with Cameron had been floated around by MVP for her promotional debut.

And that is now the case.

“Cameron has always been a name I’ve hoped to add to my resume and a fight I feel the sport of boxing deserves,” said Mayer.

“With our come-forward, aggressive styles, I have no doubt that it will be one of the most exciting fights of our generation.”

Cameron added: “I am over the moon this fight has been made.

“I’ve always said I want the biggest fights in women’s boxing, and there isn’t a bigger fight right now than me against Mikaela Mayer.”

Who else is on the card?

The co-main event features a unified WBC and WBO lightweight title defence from the UK’s Caroline Dubois (13-0-1) against Amelia Moore (4-0) of America.

Dubois added the WBO belt to her collection with a unanimous decision victory over Terri Harper in April.

Moore is the current NABF lightweight champion.

“I’m excited to be fighting in the UK at home again,” Dubois said.

“The crowd in London last time was incredible. I am looking forward to representing the UK on this card and defending my unified titles.

“The goal is to fight for more belts at the end of the year, so I need to focus and take care of business with a big win in Birmingham.”

The rest of the undercard is set to be confirmed in the coming days.

“MVPW-06 UK vs USA delivers one of the most important fights that can be made in women’s boxing today,” said MVP co-founders Paul and Nakisa Bidarian in a joint statement.

“Since the [Katie] Taylor vs [Amanda] Serrano trilogy, there has not been a pound-for-pound match-up of this magnitude, with two of the world’s top six fighters meeting in their prime.

“Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron are proven champions who have consistently sought out the toughest challenges available, and this fight is no different.”
