Ipswich vs Leicester predictions
Ipswich are well and truly in the hunt for automatic promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
The Tractor Boys are three points behind second placed Middlesbrough, but crucially with a game in hand.
Keiran McKenna hasn’t had it all his own way this year, unlike their 2023/24 promotion campaign. But opposed to the two other relegated club’s Southampton and Leicester, Ipswich have benefitted from the stability of a settled manager in the dugout and many of the players from last season.
Ipswich haven’t lost a single match at home all season, they’ve been imperious at Portman Road, in a run that’s included a 3-0 win over top-of-the-table Coventry and a 5-0 thrashing of Sheffield United.
Leicester may have beaten their opponents comfortably at the King Power Stadium in December, but their current form suggests they won’t be the first team to take three points of McKenna’s side on their own turf.
While Ipswich are currently on a seven match unbeaten record, only losing twice in the league in 2026. The Foxes are in the bottom three, having last picked up a victory on 5 January, to relegation rivals West Brom.
If Oxford beat Preston Friday night, Leicester will start the match one position off the bottom of the table. It all points to a comfortable Ipswich victory. But will they hold their nerve?
Ipswich vs Leicester betting tips
Ipswich host Leicester in a crucial Championship clash that will have ramifications at the top and bottom of the table.
Leif Davis and Wes Burns are both options from the start for this one, after their second-half cameos in the win over Hull. While McKenna will decide whether to give Ivan Azon the nod over George Hirst, who has scored two in his last three appearances.
This rotation will make Ipswich a formidable side to contend with on Saturday and be hard to break down, which could bring the ‘To win to nil’ market into play.
Leicester have suffered a pair of 2-0 losses in 2026 and conceded at least two goals in all of the league matches, bar one occasion in that same time frame.
Even if Leicester do find a way through the Ipswich defence, the Tractor Boys should have enough for victory and put the pressure on the top two.
