‘I feel afraid’ – Ruben Amorim makes worrying admission as Man United get unwanted Premier League record
Ruben Amorim hinted at fears over returning to last season’s horror show after a 1-0 defeat to Everton in the Premier League.
The match saw Manchester United suffer their fourth league defeat of the season and make a piece of unwanted top-flight history.

After Idrissa Gana Gueye’s red card for slapping Michael Keane, the Toffees have become the first team in Premier League history to beat Man United with ten men at Old Trafford.
It brings an end to an incredible record stretching to the start of the Premier League 33 years ago.
But Gueye’s sending off made no difference as Man United’s mini-revival of six matches unbeaten came to an end.
And in the immediate aftermath, Amorim said: “I feel afraid of returning to the feeling [of last season].
“Old Trafford was there to see we were going to make a big step up. We were not ready.
“These five weeks everyone was praising our evolution and I am always saying same things, we are not near. Today was not the mistake of one individual, it was the team, the feeling.”
Of course, he is referring back to when the Red Devils finished 15th in the table last term in a nightmare campaign that saw them lose at home time and again.
And the performance was worrying from the home side, who saw their five-match unbeaten run come to an end.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored the winner in the first half after Gueye’s red card.
It was a sublime finish from the former Leicester City and Chelsea man, who has been at a top level since his summer move from Stamford Bridge.

Man United will question the defending, but it was an excellent finish into the top corner – Everton‘s only shot on target.
The red card was also bizarre as Gueye lost possession in his own box, allowing Bruno Fernandes to get a shot away.
It was a rasping drive that flew over the crossbar, and immediately, the experienced midfielder approached Keane to have words.
It appeared as if he felt Keane should have been there to receive the pass, but he wasn’t, leading to a chance.
The two grabbed each other and exchanged words before Gueye slapped the centre-back.
In the rules , this is a straight red card, but he was still fuming as he was escorted off the pitch with Jordan Pickford practically pushing Gueye down the tunnel.

What went wrong?
This was Amorim’s anniversary of his first match in charge, where United drew at Ipswich, but it was one to forget.
Even before Gueye was sent off, the Toffees were the better team, but Amorim made some strange decisions.
He still stuck with the 3-4-3 despite the Red Devils having a man advantage.
The formation remained throughout the whole match as well, but they created very little.
Pickford made one unbelievable save to deny Joshua Zirkzee, but apart from that, he didn’t have much to do.
There was some positivity around Old Trafford after a good run of results, including victory over champions Liverpool at Anfield, but that has been sapped away with one defeat.
Next up for the Red Devils is a trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
