How many medals did Team GB win at last Winter Olympics and what is their podium target in Italy?
The Winter Olympics is in full flow and Team GB are breaking records in Italy.
The event, which takes place every four years, got going on Friday, February 6 and runs for two week.

There will be a total of 16 sports in Italy, including alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, luge and speed skating.
Ski mountaineering will also debut at the Winter Olympics after receiving IOC approval in 2021.
Great Britain have sent a strong team contingent to the Winter Olympics as they look to improve upon their 2022 medal haul.
And they have made history in Italy, winning their first gold medal on snow plus claiming two golds at the same Winter Games for the first time.
How many medals did Team GB win at Beijing 2022?
Team GB won just two medals in Beijing four years ago.
Both medals came in the curling as the women’s team beat Japan in the final game 10-3 to claim gold.
The men’s team, meanwhile, collected silver after losing the gold medal match to Sweden 5-4 after an extra end.
Team GB failed to achieve their target of 3-7 medals.
The team won five medals in total at the 2014 and 2018 Games – their best ever hauls.
Norway topped the medal table four years ago with 37 podiums, ten ahead of Germany in second with United States third with 25.
A total of 348 medals will be up for grabs in Italy this winter.

How many medals could Team GB win in Italy?
Team GB have set a record-breaking target of up to eight medals at the Winter Olympics.
After a slow start to the Games, Matt Weston won GB’s first medal of the 2026 Games, storming to glory in the men’s skeleton.
Then, Charlotte Bankes and Huw Nightingale claimed gold in the snowboard cross mixed team final.
And more medals could come through the curling teams plus Zoe Atkin in the freestyle skiing, Mia Brookes in the slopestyle snowboarding and Brad Hall’s two-man and four-man sleds in the men’s bobsleigh.
However, curling legend and now chef du mission Eve Muirhead has said success in Italy will not only be measured on podiums.
“We’ve got a young team, packed with potential, and they’ve got nine world medals among them from this season, which is the most we’ve ever had going into a Games,” she said.
“You can’t put a price on a medal, which I know better than anyone. But everyone has their own targets. That could be a top 10, top eight, it could be to win a medal.
“We have got the opportunity to get the most we ever have, but I’m not going to put a number on it.”
