‘Has to try that haircut’ – Jasprit Bumrah’s hilarious take on Ishan Kishan's resemblance to Hanumankind

Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah left everyone in splits with a cheeky remark about Ishan Kishan after India’s emphatic win over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday, February 15. 

The incident revolved around the uncanny resemblance between Kishan and popular rapper Hanumankind. The rapper was given an Indian team jersey by Kishan after the victory. Since then, there have been talks about the duo’s uncanny resemblance.

When asked about it by Sanjana Ganesan in a recent interaction, Bumrah admitted that the team noticed the similarity only when the two stood next to each after the match.

"Yeah, we did see it later when they were up close and personal and when the jerseys were exchanged. We didn't notice at first but then when both of them were standing together, there was a little bit of similarity. So, I think now Ishan has to try and do that haircut. But that would be a little difficult for the helmet to fit in. But yeah, all jokes aside, it was a good performance. It was good for us to see that performance,” said Bumrah in a video uploaded by the ICC.

Meanwhile, Kishan let his bat do the talking earlier in the evening at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo as the wicketkeeper-batter smashed 77 off just 40 deliveries, powering India to 175/7. The bowlers then bundled Pakistan out for 114 to seal a commanding 61-run victory.

Kishan was deservedly named Player of the Match and has now registered back-to-back fifties in the tournament, having struck a rapid half-century against Namibia in Delhi earlier.

The Indian speedster further reflected upon India’s impressive bowling performance against Pakistan, as well as his role in this bowling line-up.

“I’m happy to bowl wherever team wants me to. There was swing, so they thought I should start with new ball. There was help in the wicket. So we tried to use it to our advantage. Today execution was good,” he was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
