Harry Kane was spotted wearing strapping on his leg after England’s 4-2 win against Croatia.

The Three Lions made a strong start to their World Cup campaign on Wednesday with a hard-fought victory in Arlington, Texas.

Kane netted on two occasions during the first half to go level with Gary Lineker on ten World Cup goals.

However, the Bayern Munich striker appeared to be holding his calf towards the end of the match.

And when he appeared in the stands with family after the full-time whistle, the 32-year-old wore strapping on his leg.

It’s not clear if the strapping was precautionary, although it will raise concerns over Kane’s fitness ahead of their next match.

England return to action on Tuesday at 9pm UK time when they face Ghana, live on talkSPORT.

Bouncing back

Kane scored his first goal of the night with a retaken penalty, before heading in a second on 42 minutes.

Croatia equalised for the second time moments later through Petar Musa, but England moved up a gear at the start of the second half.

Jude Bellingham restored their lead with an impressive finish on the break, and then Marcus Rashford sealed it with five minutes to play.

“The manager gave a great speech to be honest,” Kane said on the half-time message from Thomas Tuchel. “Especially after the way we conceded the second goal, just before half-time.

“He told us to let the shackles off, calm down, what are we scared of, let’s just go. The way we conceded that second goal is not the way we want to be, dropping deep, waiting and conceding.

“He said, ‘What’s the worst that can happen? We lose a game, first group game, we get on with it and move on. Let’s just go and how the world who we can be’.

“I think we did exactly that in the second half. The performance, with and without the ball, was at the highest level. We could have scored three goals in that 20-minute spell (after half-time).

“Physically, the guys that came on in the final 20 minutes kept the level really high and in the end we had too much for a really great team who will go far in the tournaments themselves.”

Peak of his powers

In what was his 12th World Cup appearance for England, Kane was on hand to show just why he is still one of the best strikers in the world.

The former Tottenham Hotspur star arrived at the World Cup after a stunning 61-goal season at Bayern.

And former England forward Darren Bent believe this is the best we have ever seen from Kane during his extraordinary career.

When asked on talkSPORT World Cup Breakfast if he is playing the best football of his life, he replied: “I’d say so. He definitely, for me, was the sharpest I’ve ever seen him in a tournament for England.

“He’s been so good for such a long time but it almost feels like, usually, coming to this stage of the season, he’s a little bit burnt out, he looks a bit tired, he’s carrying a little injury.

“But the way he started yesterday was almost like he had a point to prove. I don’t know if that’s because the night before, and I’ve been a striker, when you see competition step up.

“(Kylian) Mbappe, (Erling) Haaland, (Lionel) Messi, you go, ‘Okay, I’ve got a point to prove’. Last night, I thought he was outstanding.”
