Flyers make intriguing Matvei Michkov decision ahead of Game 5
The Philadelphia Flyers had the chance to sweep the Pittsburgh Penguins, but came up short. The Penguins won Game 4 to keep their season alive for another game. That game is upon us, and even though things have worked for the majority of the series, the Flyers are making a lineup change involving Matvei Michkov.
Michkov will not skate in Game 5 for the Flyers, as reported by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. The highly touted winger is a healthy scratch for Philadelphia. He has played in the previous four games, but has not recorded a point in those contests.
The Flyers have high hopes for Michkov and the talent he can become. However, it’s clear that head coach Rick Tocchet does not trust the former top-10 pick in the postseason. In the regular season, the Flyers forward averaged around 15 minutes per game. This has dropped to barely more than 10 minutes per game in these playoffs.
This is a developing story. Updates to come.
