Flyers’ Dan Vladar vows to learn from Game 5 loss to Penguins

The Philadelphia Flyers were defeated by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night. Dan Vladar and his teammates had the chance to eliminate Pittsburgh with a win away from home. Unfortunately, they head back home needing to win in order to avoid facing elimination themselves.

Sidney Crosby briefly left the game, but recorded two assists in the win on Monday. The Penguins came away with a big 3-2 win in a game that didn’t feature a ton of offensive pressure. The two teams barely recorded 20 shots each, with Pittsburgh owning a 21-20 advantage in that department.

After the game, Vladar spoke with the media. And he hopes to learn from this loss before taking the ice in front of the home fans at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Game 6.

“Even though 3-0 sounded nice, we knew the series wasn’t over. (The Penguins) are a really good team. They are in the playoffs for a reason. So are we. For us, just quick bounce back, watch video, and learn from today,” the Flyers goaltender said, via NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Vladar has been strong through the first five games of this series. After Monday’s loss, he owns a .913 save percentage. He is one of seven goaltenders in these playoffs with a save percentage north of .910, as well.

The Flyers need to figure things out before things snowball well out of their control. Philadelphia doesn’t have a ton of time to reflect on this loss, though. They return home on Wednesday night to battle Pittsburgh once again in Game 6 with one more chance to send the Penguins home for good.
