Everton v Chelsea prediction

Chelsea will make their first ever trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday in something of a rut in form having been humiliated in the last 16 of the Champions League, losing 8-2 on aggregate to defending champions PSG, contributing towards them having now lost three matches on the spin.

Last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at home to Newcastle saw Liam Rosenior’s side drop out of what is expected to be the Champions League qualification positions, giving up their fifth position in the table to Liverpool.

The Blues, who are now only three points ahead of seventh placed Brentford, have won two of their last three matches away from home, but did ship five goals against PSG in their most recent game on the road.

The west London side do have a strong record on their travels though, with only runaway league leaders Arsenal having picked up more points at away grounds than Chelsea, a record they’ll be looking to extend with victory on Merseyside on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Everton’s defeat the Gunners last weekend saw their two match winning streak come to an end, but those victories over Newcastle and Burnley have added six vital points to their tally, which leaves them in a promising position in the league table.

Last weekend’s results around the league saw David Moyes’ side keep hold of their eighth place position, which is expected to be good enough for a place in the Conference League next season, and just two points shy of Brentford, who occupy the final Europa League spot.

Despite a strong start to life in their brand new stadium this season, the Toffees haven’t had it completely their own way in front of their home fans in recent months, winning just one of their last eight at home, though that win did come in their most recent Hill Dickinson outing against Burnley.

Chelsea have won three of their last four matches against Everton, who didn’t manage to score in any of those games, with Toffees having won just one of their last seven games with the Blues, though Chelsea have won only one of their last eight away games against Saturday’s opponents, losing five of those, and scoring only one in their last five.

Chelsea will be desperate to head into the final international break of the season with a victory to end their three match losing streak, and their strong away record in the league should stand them in good stead against an Everton team who have struggled at home in recent months – a 2-1 away win perhaps proving the most sensible bet.

Everton v Chelsea betting tips

Stalemate streak to continue

Only Arsenal have picked up more points away from home in the Premier League this season than Chelsea, who have won two of their last three matches on the road and have won three of their last four games against Everton.

Joao to wow

Joao Pedro has scored more goals than any other player on either team this season after his hat trick against Aston Villa just over a fortnight ago took him to 18 for the season, and leaves the Brazilian with five goals in his last five games and in third place in the race for the Golden Boot.

Caution for Caicedo

Moises Caicedo has been on the receiving end of more yellow cards than any other player in on either team this season, having picked up his caution of the campaign in last weekend’s defeat against Newcastle.
