Dream make obvious choice on Angel Reese’s 4th-year option

It was a no brainer for the Atlanta Dream to make a contract decision involving their incoming star player Angel Reese.

Reese is preparing for the third season of her WNBA career, her first with the Dream. She spent the first two seasons of her time in the league with the Chicago Sky, who traded her to Atlanta in the 2025-26 offseason for a 2027 1st round pick and a 2028 1st round pick.

Reese is getting ready for a new chapter in her career, hoping to elevate the Dream’s status to serious playoff contention. Halfway through her rookie contract, she had an option on the fourth year of her deal. Atlanta had to make a decision as to accept or decline it, but the choice was easy for them as they announced on Monday.

“The Atlanta Dream is exercising Angel Reese’s fourth year option, the organization announced today,” the post read.

What’s next for Angel Reese, Dream

Angel Reese and the Dream will look forward to having a solid campaign throughout 2026. Reese hopes to shine as a force in the rotation, giving Atlanta a chance to compete for hardware.

Reese took part in 64 games throughout his two-year stint with the Chicago Sky. She averaged 14.1 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. She had shooting splits of 42.1% from the field, including 18.4% from beyond the arc, and 74.6% from the free-throw line.

Atlanta was coming off a 2025 campaign where they shined as one of the best squads in the WNBA. They achieved a 30-14 record in the regular season, seeing Rhyne Howard, Allisha Gray and Brionna Jones flourish in the rotation. However, they crashed out in the first round after losing to the Indiana Fever in three games.

Following two preseason matchups on April 29 and May 3, the Dream will begin their journey in the 2026 campaign. They are on the road when they face the Minnesota Lynx on May 10 at 7 p.m. ET.
