Dodgers place pitcher on IL after officially activating Blake Snell
The Los Angeles Dodgers created room for Blake Snell Saturday. Even amid Charlie Barnes coming over from the Chicago Cubs.
The franchise announced the Snell move on the eve of facing the Atlanta Braves. One other pitcher lands on the Injured List, though, amid his own MLB Injury.
“The Dodgers activated LHP Blake Snell from the injured list and placed RHP Brock Stewart on the injured list with a left foot bone spur,” the franchise announced on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.
This decision also comes amid Tommy Edman still rehabbing his right ankle injury, which manager Dave Roberts said is still battling soreness.
LA still teased Snell’s return prior to Saturday in a unique way: With a bobblehead twist. Fans were handed a chance to win a Snell bobblehead ahead of Saturday’s game against Atlanta.
Snell officially is greenlit to return to the mound. Although LA aims to cap him at 75 pitches total.
The multiple World Series winner dealt with shoulder inflammation that kept him out of the rotation. The ailment prevented him from throwing during spring training too this past February and March.
Snell delivered a 5-4 overall record on the hill featuring 72 total strikeouts. He also produced a 2.35 ERA facing opposing batters.
LA raising up Snell arrived amid another big pitching move. Fellow star thrower Tyler Glasnow is on IL too ahead of the Braves matchup, who’s dealing with a bad back. Glasnow began to feel his back issue early against the Houston Astros Wednesday during that 12-2 rout.
