Cubs star issues response after vulgar interaction with female fan violates MLB rule

The battle between the teams in the Windy City turned nasty on Sunday afternoon.

The Chicago White Sox took the final game of the series over their south side rivals Chicago Cubs by a score of 9-8.

White Sox catcher Edgar Quero clubbed a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the 10th inning, securing the series win.

Walk-off’s in any baseball game generate a lot of excitement, but in this particular matchup, the drama came during the fourth inning.

White Sox third-baseman Miguel Vargas clubbed a double off the wall to tie the game.

In what was almost a great catch, Cubs star Pete Crow-Armstrong narrowly missed the ball, smacking into the fenced wall in right-center.

While sitting on the warning track, facing into the crowd, a female White Sox fan was seen approaching Crow-Armstrong and yelling, “you suck.”

This prompted an altercation between the two, and video footage captured by fans in the crowd clearly captured the 24-year-old telling the woman to: “You suck my f****** d*** b****.”

In a short statement to ESPN’s Jesse Rodgers after the game, Crow-Armstrong explained the situation.

“Some lady decided to start talking s*** and I felt the need to say it back,” Crow-Armstrong stated.

Cubs manager, Craig Counsell, has yet to comment on the altercation between his outfielder and the fan, and no fine or suspension has been given.

However, the 24-year-old’s actions is a clear violation of MLB’s rule 4.06 which states: “Players in uniform shall not address or mingle with spectators, nor sit in the stands before, during, or after a game.”

This altercation has sparked intense criticism towards the 24-year-old on social media.

“Got a big head. Frustration showing with struggling offense and young Sox team showing much more power and upside,” one fan said.

“There is no excuse for that kind of behavior, I’m expecting a fine or a suspension for PCA soon,” a second commented.

“He got triggered because she told him that he sucks, wow, that’s really classless from PCA,” a third added.

“Someone needs to have a word with MLB’s ‘golden-boy’ that’s really out of line,” a fourth concluded.

The Cubs will now make the short journey home to Wrigley Field, where they begin a series against their division-foe Milwaukee Brewers.

As of now, Crow-Armstrong is expected to be in the Cubs lineup as his search for offensive consistency continues.

Crow-Armstrong hit 25 home runs with an .871 OPS in the first half of 2025, but since, has struggled to reach those same levels of offensive prowess.

So far in 2026, he is hitting .234 with five home runs and 20 RBI’s, and will be hoping the league does not reprimand him for his actions on Sunday.
