Chris Broussard lays out perfect Giannis trade destination

With the relationship between Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks potentially strained amid the league’s investigation, speculation grows that a trade could come to fruition at some point during the offseason. On Tuesday, NBA Insider Chris Broussard argues why he thinks the Houston Rockets would be a perfect destination for Antetokounmpo.

During the latest episode of “First Things First” on Fox Sports 1, Broussard thinks Houston would be the perfect landing spot for the 31-year-old forward, assuming the Rockets don’t go on a playoff run and win a championship. Either way, Broussard claims Houston could make the best trade offer to the Bucks for Antetokounmpo.

“I think the trade, and I’ve said this before, the trade is to Houston,” said Broussard. “Assuming they don’t go on some deep run to The Finals or whatever. Trade is to Houston. If [the Bucks] could get [Alperen] Sengun and Reed Sheppard and some picks, for Giannis, man. I think that could grow into something pretty good in the Eastern Conference.

“And then if I’m Houston, I gotta win now because of Kevin Durant,” continued Broussard. “[The Rockets would] have Giannis, still would have Jabari Smith, Amen Thompson. Fred VanVleet will be back next year. Like, that’s a team that could contend in the West.”

The Rockets are one of five teams in the Western Conference to have already clinched a playoff spot, while the remainder of the pack is still fighting for playoff position or will be participating in the play-in tournament. Houston seems to be in line for the No. 5 seed, but could drop to No. 6 depending on how the final four games play out in the regular season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been involved in trade rumors throughout nearly the entire season. It’s been an ongoing saga between the former two-time MVP and the Bucks. Trade rumors will likely ramp up once the offseason begins.
