Chiefs’ Mansoor Delane shoulder injury is offseason bummer, but there’s a silver lining

The Kansas City Chiefs had a mini retool of their team this offseason, and they’re making sure they’re still one of the best in the league despite a down year. One of the first things they did was during the draft, trading up to the No. 6 pick to select Mansoor Delane. Many fans are excited to see what Delane can bring to the team, but unfortunately, they’ll have to wait as he deals with a shoulder injury.

“We kept him out of practice for that reason,” Reid said via ESPN’s Nate Taylor.

The good news is that Delane will be ready to go for training camp, and the best thing for him is to get as much recovery time as he can. There’s a good chance that he’ll play an important part in the Chiefs’ defense in his rookie season.

While Delane rests up, the Chiefs have another cornerback to be excited about, as they brought back L’Jarius Sneed after playing the past few years with the Tennessee Titans. There are already thoughts that this could be one of the best signings of the offseason, according to Chiefs insider Hayley Lewis of Bleacher Report.

“Although it’s been a minute since he’s been in Kansas City, nobody has forgotten who he is… but now in 2026, is he the same player that he once was?… do the Chiefs really need him to be the exact same player?… To me, it seems like a very low-risk move with potentially huge upside. If Sneed can stay healthy, the Chiefs may have found one of the biggest bargain signings of the offseason,” Lewis said.

Sneed dealt with injuries in his two seasons with the Titans, but if he can come back to the Chiefs and find that fire, it could be scary for opposing teams.
