Che Adams in line for Premier League return 18 months after Southampton exit

Wolves are interested in signing Scotland striker Che Adams, talkSPORT understands.

Adams has been at Italian side Torino since leaving Southampton on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.

After scoring nine Serie A goals in his debut season, the 29-year-old has experienced a drop in form this term.

He has netted just three times in 19 league games so far this term, and only recently put an end to a six-week goal drought with two goals in a Coppa Italia win against Roma.

But Adams’ services could certainly be of use to Wolves, who have struggled for goals and may need attacking reinforcements.

Centre-forward Jorgen Strand Larsen has been strongly linked with a move away from the club before the transfer deadline.

However, his proposed move to Crystal Palace currently hangs in the balance, who are yet to submit a formal offer for the striker.

Wolves were expecting a written offer of £45m rising to £50m on Friday after positive verbal talks.

However, after Palace agreed to sign Evann Guessand on loan from Aston Villa, this has cast doubt at Molineux over the Strand Larsen deal.

The Premier League‘s bottom club are yet to make a new signing so far this month, and are in need of a miracle to avoid relegation.

Rob Edwards‘ side are currently 17 points from safety after winning just one of their 23 matches in the league.

They have scored the fewest goals of any team in the top-flight, with their forward line struggling to come up with the goods.

Striker Hwang Hee-Chan has managed just two league goals for Wolves this term, and is tied with three other players as Wolves’ leading goalscorer in the competition.

Meanwhile Strand Larsen has scored just once in 21 outings, despite establishing himself as the club’s talisman last season.

The Norwegian scored 14 goals in 35 games for the Black Country side in the 2024/25 campaign, which put him in huge demand.

But with his future at Molineux unclear, the arrival of Adams would be a welcome addition to Wolves’ attacking options.

The striker has plenty of Premier League experience, spending four seasons in the top-flight with Southampton between 2019 and 2023.

During this time, he scored 25 goals in 124 appearances, with his best-scoring season coming in the 2020/21 campaign, when he notched nine goals.

Following relegation in 2023, Adams then netted 16 goals to fire the Saints to promotion from the Championship, including the winner in the Play-Off Final.

The Scotland star is no stranger to scoring goals in English football, having also enjoyed spells at Sheffield United and Birmingham.

In three years at St Andrews, he found the net 38 times in all competitions, and bagged 22 goals in the second-tier in 2018/19.
