Celtics fans try to decode Jaylen Brown’s cryptic tweet amid Giannis buzz

The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade sweepstakes have been heating up in the last few days, and one of the teams reportedly interested in the action is the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are coming off a blown 3-1 lead in the first round of the playoffs that essentially killed all of the vibes they worked to build in what was supposed to be a gap season.

If Giannis were to be dealt to Boston, the deal would almost certainly be built around Jaylen Brown, whether that would send him to the Bucks or a third team.

Recently, Brown added fuel to the fire with a cryptic tweet during his ongoing visit to China.

“The neighbors rice always smells better,” wrote Brown on X, formerly Twitter.

Needless to say, fans in the comment section were quick to put on their detective hats and get to work decoding the post.

“‘Grass is always greener on the other side’… don’t tell me this is what I think it means…” wrote one fan.

“If the neighbors rice is a top 15 player ever, 2 time MVP, FMVP, defensive player of the year and with one of the most iconic final runs ever yeah, it does smell WAY better,” added another.

At this point, Brown wouldn’t seem to fit the timeline of the Bucks if they were to trade Giannis and enter a rebuild, so some have speculated that a third team would have to join the party in order to facilitate such a deal.

Brown is coming off the best year of his career last season but had some rough moments in the playoffs, and it seems that the Celtics are still comfortable with Jayson Tatum being their franchise cornerstone after his impressive return from an Achilles tear.

In any case, it could be an eventful offseason.
