Celtics fans hit Joel Embiid with NFSW chant during FTs

Boston fans continue to be hostile towards Joel Embiid, taking the chance to taunt him during the Celtics’ Game 7 clash against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night.

Embiid has been a longtime nemesis for the Boston crowd, having dealt with him in the 2018, 2020 and 2023 playoffs. The Celtics prevailed in all three series, which made this showdown in the 2026 edition an intriguing one.

Boston initially led 3-1 in the series before Philadelphia fired back to win Games 5 and 6 to force Game 7. This meant that Embiid had to deal with the opposing fans once again, which had them make an explicit chant towards him while he was at the free throw line.

How Celtics played 1st half against Joel Embiid, 76ers

The Celtics are without Jayson Tatum to start Game 7, but that didn’t mean they will let the 76ers have it easy throughout the matchup.

Philadelphia landed the first major punch as they led 32-19 after the first quarter. Despite this, Boston fired back with a big run that allowed them to take their first lead of the night. However, the visitors made enough plays to take a 55-50 lead at halftime.

Ball movement and inside scoring is making a difference in this series finale. Philadelphia has control of both categories as they created 17 assists and scored 28 points inside the paint. On the other hand, Boston has dished 11 assists and scored 20 points inside the paint so far.

Two players have reached double figures before halftime arrived. Derrick White leads the attack with 19 points, four rebounds, one assist, and a block. He is shooting 6-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Jaylen Brown comes next with 13 points and three rebounds, while Neemias Queta has eight points and three rebounds.

If the Celtics win Game 7, they will advance to the East Semifinals. They would take on the New York Knicks as Game 1 would take place on May 4 or 5.
