Cavs’ Jarrett Allen ready to kill viral ‘lights brighter than expected’ meme
With the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Knicks, there’s no doubt some recent history that the Cavs are looking to redeem themselves when taking on the Knicks. As the Cavs look for payback against the Knicks for losing in five games in the 2023 NBA Playoffs, one moment from Jarrett Allen stood out amongst the rest.
During the first round series against the Knicks in 2023, Cleveland would be eliminated in five games, as Allen made an admission that has stayed with him for a long time.
“Even for me, the lights were brighter than expected,” Allen said after that series.
Now, the two teams face off once again, with the lights arguably being the brightest it’s been for Cleveland and Allen, as the big man reflected on the comment, saying how he is a “new person now.”
“That comment was that comment. What I said is what it is. I’m a new person now. I’ve grown, evolved, have a lot more playoff series under my belt, a lot more games under my belt,” Allen said, via Dave McMenamin.

Cavs’ Jarrett Allen shares expectation for Madison Square Garden
As Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Cavs and the Knicks is inside Madison Square Garden, there’s no doubt that all eyes will be on Cleveland and Allen to show out. Another aspect to expect is a rowdy crowd in New York, which Allen spoke about to Amazon Prime after the Game 7 win over the Detroit Pistons.
“It’s going to be a loud environment; we know that their fans are incredible fans, crazy fans,” Allen said, via Ian Begley. “But we know that we can do it. We came into an incredible arena like this and took over the game. We just have to do it again.”
Game 1 between Cleveland and New York takes place on Tuesday, in what is sure to be another intense series, as one looks to get the upper hand in the first contest. The Cavs are coming off a grueling seven-game series against Detroit, while the Knicks swept the Philadelphia 76ers.
