Caitlin Clark calls off Chicken Little doomers after Fever win vs Dream
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have been in the WNBA spotlight for different reasons than usual lately. Between the struggles on the court that led to their 4-4 record going into Thursday’s matchup with the soaring Atlanta Dream and the apparent drama off the court, the Fever have been feeling the heat from the public. But after sealing a major 83-71 win over the Dream, Clark made sure to douse the flames.
“I’m [going to] say this in the nicest way possible, but hopefully it makes a lot of people just be quiet,” Clark began. “And I know there’s always going to be conversation, and I totally respect that and I always understand that, but the sky is not falling.”
Clark and head coach Stephanie White had already publicly squashed their apparent “beef” that arose from their courtside spat during the team’s loss to the Portland Fire, which caused a media firestorm. The Fever phenom addressed the situation again, though, letting it be known that she doesn’t take the attention personally.
“There’s a special part about being in the position that, you know, obviously I’m in and this organization is in,” Clark added. “There’s always [going to] be people that analyze every single thing that we do, and we would never change that, but, you know, I think people always make up stories about where our locker room is or what my teammates think or what I think or what our coaches think. But this group is connected, you know.”

The victory over the Dream also brought some much-needed levity for the Fever, who had lost two games in a row and saw Clark limited to just six points against the Fire. The 24-year-old used this example to downplay the public’s panic even more, doubling down on the team’s chemistry.
“We hadn’t been playing our best basketball, and even though we played it for one game tonight, that doesn’t mean we are where we want to be. But it also shows what we’re capable of and what we can do, and I think it spoke a lot to the character of people that we have on our team, the people we have in our locker room,” Clark continued.
“It could be one of those where everyone comes out and is just still mad from the way we played or, you know, thinking about themselves, but that wasn’t the case at all. You saw how selfless everybody is on this team and wanted to give for each other, so [I’m] just proud of the group,” Clark finished.
