Bucks rumors: Taylor Jenkins hire isn’t official yet. Is it time to panic?

It’s been about one week now since reports initially surfaced that former Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins had been selected to become the new head coach for the Milwaukee Bucks. But since then, everything has been relatively quiet. The Bucks have not released anything officially announcing Taylor Jenkins as the new coach, leading to potentially speculation that a snag might have been hit.

Well Bucks fans should rest easy as Jenkins is still on pace to become the next head coach of the team following the organization parting ways with Doc Rivers, as per ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel. During a recent episode of ‘ClutchScoops,’ Siegel reiterated that everything is still going according to plan.

“There’s really nothing to read into here. Everything is still on track, Taylor Jenkins will be the head coach of the Bucks moving forward,” Siegel reported. “Immediately after deciding to move on from Doc Rivers as their head coach, Jon Horst and ownership of the Bucks got in contact with Taylor Jenkins and his representation and immediately made it clear he was going to be their top choice.”

One potentially major piece of information that could also settle Bucks’ fans worries is whether or not Giannis Antetokoumpo was involved in the coaching search and subsequent Jenkins hire. As Siegel reported in the immediate aftermath of the hiring, it’s not clear whether Antetokounmpo had a hand in it, but it certainly doesn’t hurt considering Giannis is a Jenkins fan.

Jenkins will take over a Bucks team looking to contend in the Eastern Conference and get back to the postseason after nine consecutive seasons of making the playoffs.
