Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes will join up with his teammates for pre-season on Monday.

Guimaraes had initially been expected to link up with the Magpies in La Manga on Sunday following an extended break after the World Cup.

However, he left Brazil on Sunday and flew overnight.

Guimaraes is set to arrive at Newcastle’s pre-season training base on Monday.

talkSPORT previously reported Guimaraes had requested to delay his travel to La Manga by a day.

Guimaraes’ delayed arrival comes amid heavy interest from Arsenal, who are closing in on a deal to sign the Magpies skipper for upwards of £75million.

Sources close to the player insist he is keen to not disrupt plans at the club and wants to be respectful.
