Brandon Aiyuk deletes videos trashing 49ers as saga continues
The San Francisco 49ers are in an awkward position with Brandon Aiyuk. San Francisco seemingly has no interest in playing Aiyuk again, but he is still under contract with a big salary. The disgruntled player just made a classy gesture in what could be an attempt to smooth out the situation.
Aiyuk may have just extended an olive branch to the 49ers in his own way. The veteran wide receiver reportedly deleted two recent videos where he criticized his team, per Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.
The 28-year-old wide receiver crashed out on social media on June 7th. He posted a lengthy rant where he warned his haters to not “run form the belt” among other threats and posturing.
Aiyuk posted another video a few days later where he called the 49ers “stupid” for giving him a four-year, $120 million extension back in 2024.
“You want to know why [the 49ers] are really mad, though?” asked Aiyuk. “They mad cause they stupid. They dumb. They mad that they paid me $50 million in eight months. And they voided my guarantees for 2027. And I’m about to be on a new team in 2027. They mad at themselves, for real. They acting like they mad at me, but they stupid a** mad at themselves.”
NFL insiders criticized Aiyuk for trying to force his way out of San Francisco.
If Aiyuk really wanted to force the issue with the 49ers, he could have showed up for the team’s offseason workouts. However, an outstanding warrant for Aiyuk’s arrest in Santa Clara county prevented him from doing so.
All of this may have made the Commanders think twice about attempting to land Aiyuk if he can force an exit from the 49ers.
At this point, the best move for Aiyuk could be reporting to training camp in late July. Otherwise, his chances of playing during the 2026 season could be incredibly slim.
