Birmingham v Watford prediction

Birmingham head into tonight’s Championship clash with Watford having managed to pick up some strong form, particularly at home, with just one defeat in their last five matches and dominant victories in their last three at home.

Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw at West Brom in a West Midlands derby, combined with this weekend’s results, currently has Chris Davies’ side sat 11th in the Championship table, but know a win tonight would take them into seventh place and just a point behind the play-offs.

The Blues have been in outstanding form at their home stadium of late, scoring four goals in each of their last three matches in front of their home fans, conceding just once in that time.

Meanwhile, Watford make the short trip to the Second City in some form of their own, unbeaten in their last five matches, but with only two wins in their last six.

Javi Gracia’s slipped to 16th in the table following the weekend’s action, but will also be aware of the fact they’ll climb all the way up to eighth should they win tonight, such is the tightly-congested nature of the Championship table this season.

However, no team have picked up fewer points away from home in the Championship this season than the Hornets, who have just six points to their name from eight games away from Vicarage Road, though four of those have come in their last two matches.

The Hertfordshire side have won six of their last seven matches against Birmingham, losing just one of their last 12, but that could be set to change tonight as a dominant home side take on the joint-worst away team in the second tier.

The Blues’ stellar form at home this season, combined with Watford’s struggles to pick up points on the road this season, I imagine Birmingham will pick up a 2-0 home win.

Birmingham v Watford betting tips

Watford’s away woes continue

Birmingham have lost just one home league game since April 2024 and have won their last three matches at St Andrew’s by an aggregate score of 12-1.

Meanwhile no Championship side have picked up fewer points away from home this season than Watford, winning just one of their last 18 on the road in all competitions.

Stansfield to score again

A goal tonight for Jay Stansfield would make him the joint-highest scoring Championship player in all competitions this season.

Eight of his nine goals this season have been scored at St Andrew’s, where he’s scored six goals in his last five appearances.

Bright in the book

No player on either team have received more yellow cards this season than Birmingham’s Bright Osay-Samuel, who has five for the campaign, including three in his last five starts.
