Big Show teases shock new career as he reveals weight loss goal

Paul Wight, formerly known as the Big Show, is known worldwide by sports fans for his remarkable work as a wrestler.

However, it turns out the 54-year-old is eyeing a different career altogether.

Wight is widely regarded as an all-time wrestling legend, largely thanks to his iconic stint with WWE.

During his time with the company, which spanned decades, Wight scooped up a litany of titles, including the WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship and multiple tag team titles among several others.

Wight has since joined AEW, where he has been on his roster since February 2021.

But when the time eventually comes to step away from the ring for good, Wight already has an idea of what he’ll do next.

The seven-foot (213cm) giant joined Ally McCoist and Gabby Agbonlahor on the Sports Breakfast, where he pointed out his recent weight loss has him on the path to a rather drastic career change.

At his peak, the Big Show weighed an astonishing 523 pounds and was consuming an eye-watering 13,000 to 18,000 calories a day.

He was often fuelled by massive fast-food runs including dozens of tacos or multiple Big Macs in a single sitting.

These days he has significantly trimmed down after the weight took its toll on his body over the years.

What new career did Paul Wight tease?

Having been introduced by McCoist as ‘standing seven feet tall and weighing more than 400 pounds,’ Wight interjected and said: “Not any more!

“I’m only 383 (pounds) now, I’ve lost some weight. We’re doing good. I want to get down to about 350.

“I want to become a Calvin Klein underwear model, so I’m working on it.

“Their big and tall section. It’s kind of a big and tall and short, if you put it all together.”

But before Wight can get cracking on his menswear venture, he has the small matter of an AEW pay-per-view event at Wembley to worry about.

The event, officially titled ‘All In: London’, is set to take place at Wembley, England’s largest stadium, on August 30.

It will be the third time AEW has held an event at Wembley, having previously visited in 2023 and 2024.

Why Wight’s AEW boss overrode his O2 suggestion

Speaking to McCoist and Agbonlahor, Wight stated he was ‘super excited’ about returning to England, largely because of the crowds.

“This is one of our biggest global platforms for AEW, is here in London,” Wight said.

“When I first met my boss, Tony Khan, and we inked the contract, one of my first conversations with him when we were talking about his plans for AEW, I said, ‘Listen, Tony, I’m telling you, I’ve been going to the UK for years, we need to get in to O2 Arena in London. It’s good for the talent.’

“The crowds are different over here and that’s a thing that makes a great talent, is experiencing different crowds and understanding their own character. London and the UK is a great, great experience for talent. They will love AEW, they will love what we bring to the table.

“So him being a billionaire, I was pitching O2 Arena. He just went right around me and went to Wembley Stadium. 80,000 people, our first run here, set a record for a wrestling event which is pretty exciting.”
