Bears’ Caleb Williams sets 2 lofty goals for 2026 season

It’s been a whirlwind first two seasons in the National Football League for Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, whom the club selected with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and who later led them to their first postseason appearance since 2020.

For Williams, he’s looking to take the next step in his career and to help the Bears prove that last season wasn’t an anomaly. What is he looking to accomplish in the upcoming season? As he put it, he wants to increase his own completion percentage while guiding Chicago to becoming the most potent offense in the League.

“It’s just get the completion percentage up, keep the offense on the field more, score as many points as possible, be the highest-scoring offense, because that’s my part in the team, going out there and orchestrating it and being able to go out there and score whether it’s handoffs or passes, whatever, that doesn’t matter,” Williams said via Courtney Cronin on X, formerly known as Twitter. “It’s just being able to put up as many points as possible to help our team win as many games as possible and then keeping the turnovers very low.”

With Williams under center, the Bears offense as a whole ranked sixth overall in the NFL, averaging 369.5 yards per game. Additionally, their 25.9 points per game ranked ninth overall.

Williams, who appeared in all 17 games, accumulated 3,942 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while completing 58.1 percent of his passes and posting a 90.1 passer rating. The Bears were the first overall club in the NFC North Division with a record of 11-6.
