Bayern chief fears Harry Kane will be swayed by Saudi Arabia payday

Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß is worried that Harry Kane may be swayed by a mega Saudi pay packet.

Kane is enjoying a record-breaking season for the Bavarian powerhouse and talks regarding a new deal until 2028 or 2029 have already taken place.

“We are talking to Harry. Everyone knows at some point a decision has to be made,” Bayern sporting director Max Eberl told Sky Germany earlier this year.

However, Hoeneß is still concerned that Kane could be lured away from the Allianz Arena with a move to the Middle East a possibility.

Keep Calm and Harry On

Speaking to Kicker, the Bayern supremo said: “He didn’t exercise his release clause, which means he’s definitely under contract here until summer 2027.

“What I’m hearing and feeling is that he and his family feel extremely comfortable here.

“You never know when a Saudi comes along and puts a lot of money on the table… But he feels very much at home.”

Hoeneß also praised Kane’s lifestyle and believes that the England captain has many years left at the pinnacle of European football.

“Harry Kane can play at this level for at least another three or four years, because he’s a perfect professional who takes care of his body,” the 74-year-old said.

“He’s always at rehab and with the physios.”

Kane has been in flying form for Bayern this season having struck 31 league goals and provided five assists for FC Hollywood.

The England star is 10 goals off matching Robert Lewandowski’s record 41-goal haul, which the Poland international set in the 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign.

Former Bayern midfielder Dietmar Hamman has cautioned prioritising the goalscoring record over European success.

The German powerhouse face La Liga giants Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League next month, and keeping Kane fit is of the utmost importance if Bayern are to progress to the next round of Europe’s elite club competition.

“I think Bayern and Kane would do well to set this record in the storage room,” Hamman told Sky.

“Because it is important that they advance one round in the Champions League – and ideally one more and that they win the Champions League.”

Kane was one of a number of players rested by England head coach Thomas Tuchel for Friday’s 1-1 draw with Uruguay.

However, the in-form frontman is expected to be available for the Three Lions boss for Tuesday’s match against Japan.
