‘Awful manager’ – Ange Postecoglou slammed in brutal takedown after Tottenham ‘big club’ claim
Ange Postecoglou has been labelled an ‘awful manager’ after his bombshell appearance on The Overlap.
The former Tottenham Hotspur boss argued his old side are ‘not a big club’ during the interview.

Postecoglou also claimed he missed out on his preferred signings due to the club’s transfer policies following his first season in charge.
However, talkSPORT’s Andy Goldstein has slammed the Australian for his stance in a brutal response to his comments.
Reacting to the remarks, he referenced Postecoglou’s doomed Nottingham Forest reign as well as Spurs’ Europa League triumph.
Goldstein also compared his failings to the work of Mikel Arteta, David Moyes and Unai Emery in recent seasons without the need for expensive signings.
Goldstein slams Postecoglou’s comments
Discussing Postecoglou’s interview, he told Drive: “When he says they weren’t in the market, I could have told you Spurs aren’t in the market to sign £100million players because even if they’ve got £100million players, at the moment those players aren’t going to choose Spurs.
“I found it absolutely stunning the fella was paid £7million by Spurs and he goes on The Overlap and slags them off, constantly slagging them off.
“Let’s have it right, as a league manager, Ange Postecoglou is the worst Tottenham manager for 50 years. The last one before him took Spurs down a league.
“He got them to the worst possible place that any Spurs manager has taken them in 50 years.
“He sits there and he laughs and he calls them Spursy right. Then he goes on to say he wanted £50million, £60million, £70million players at Spurs.
“Let me tell you now you look at Arsenal because he mentioned Arsenal, when Arteta came in and started their rebuild they weren’t spending £100million on players. They were buying players on loan. They were buying £25million players and over time he made them better.”

After finishing fifth in Postecoglou’s first season, Spurs slumped to 17th place last term.
It represented the club’s lowest top-flight finish since relegation in 1977.
Goldstein then turned his attention to their Europa League triumph, which ended a 17-year trophy drought.
He added: “He’ll say, and rightly so, that Spurs won the Europa League right and they did.
“But let’s remind ourselves, on their run to winning that they beat AZ Alkmaar, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bodo/Glimt and the worst ever Premier League Manchester United side we have ever seen.
“Not only that he never had a plan B, he lasted 39 days at Nottingham Forest and if you look at other managers that have come into clubs and I include David Moyes most recently who’s turned them (Everton) around with the same players.

“If you look at Aston Villa and Unai Emery when he took over from Steven Gerrard, they weren’t anywhere near the Aston Villa they are now and he had virtually the same players when he took over to what he’s got now.
“There’s been a few additions but they’re virtually the same side. That is how you build a team.
“You are a manager. You’re meant to manage what you’ve got. You can’t sit there and demand £80-90million players and (say) ‘if I wasn’t getting that money because we’ve got a wage structure what was I supposed to do?’
“You’re meant to be a manager. You’re meant to turn them into a good team. That’s why you’re paid an extortionate amount of money.”
Having been sacked by Spurs in June, Postecoglou returned to the dugout with Forest three months later.
However, he lasted just 39 days before he was dismissed, having failed to win any of his eight matches in all competitions.
Goldstein ended his rant by concluding: “Literally blaming everyone else apart from you.
“I was gobsmacked that the geezer has got £7million from Spurs and he’s sitting there calling them Spursy. He should look at himself.
“He’s an awful, awful manager, 39 days at Forest, gets sacked at Spurs because in 50 years he’s the worst ever Premier League manager they’ve had.
“I was stunned. Honestly if he was chocolate he’d eat himself.”
Spurs’ woes have continued this season following Postecoglou’s exit at the end of last term.
His replacement Thomas Frank was sacked this week after just seven months in charge.
The Dane was dismissed following their home defeat to Newcastle United on Tuesday.
Spurs currently sit just three points above the Premier League relegation zone having failed to win any of their last eight matches.
