The New York Yankees are down to their last out, so to speak.

Ryan McMahon and the Bronx Bombers are one loss away in their American League Division Series against AL East rivals Tampa Bay Rays from being eliminated from World Series contention.

That came after the Yankees fell short again in Game 2 of the Tampa Bay series, losing Monday night 5-2 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

Perhaps the Yankees' fortune will change when they return home for Game 3 on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

McMahon surely still believes the Yankees can turn things around.

“We've dug [the hole]. It's not over yet. There's a lot of work left to be done. It's not over,” the third baseman McMahon told reporters after Game 2, via SNY Yankees.

New York will look to rediscover its offense back home after going a combined 4-for-31 in Game 2. McMahon himself was just 0-for-1 with a walk. If it weren't for Ben Rice, the Yankees would have been blanked by Tampa Bay, which gave up two home runs to the hard-hitting designated hitter.

Cam Schlittler took the pitching loss for New York, as he allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits with a walk issued and only two strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings of work.

Missing the services of three-time AL Most Valuable Player Aaron Judge due to a calf injury is clearly being felt by the Yankees. In any case, with they have to find a way to get the better of Tampa Bay in Game 3 to keep their season alive.
